When you're rapidly building or repairing with layers of fiberglass and resin, surface tackiness is crucial to prevent the layers from curing too soon. TotalBoat Polyester Laminating Resin stays tacky, allowing the layers to form strong bonds without hardening up in the middle of your project. This economical, marine-grade fiberglass resin doesn't contain wax, ensuring it won't cure in direct contact with air. It can be applied to prepared fiberglass, wood, and metal, making it suitable for various projects, such as spray-ups in a mold, hand layups on a boat, or DIY fiberglass repairs on boat hulls, surfboards, car bodies, motorcycles, RVs, or bathtubs.

TotalBoat Laminating Resin has an ideal viscosity for wetting out fiberglass mat, fiberglass cloth, and carbon fiber, and it won't sag, even on vertical surfaces. It also minimizes pattern print-through on gelcoat finishes, making it an excellent choice for your fiberglass or gelcoat repair kit.

Using TotalBoat Laminating Resin is straightforward, but it requires the included MEKP catalyst to work properly. Simply add the catalyst, stir thoroughly, and use the mixture immediately. To control the working time, you can adjust the amount of MEKP hardener. For example, at 70°F, a working time of 20 minutes or more can be achieved by adding 1 teaspoon of MEKP to 1 quart of polyester resin; for a working time of 15-20 minutes, add 2 teaspoons of MEKP to 1 quart of resin; for a working time of 10 minutes, add 3 teaspoons of MEKP to 1 quart of resin.

When you're ready for the final curing, apply a coat of TotalBoat Polyester Finishing Resin to achieve a hard, tack-free finish that's ready to sand, paint, or gelcoat.
